Department of Cardio-pulmonary Physiotherapy
Empowering hearts and lungs through exercise science
The Cardio-Pulmonary Physiotherapy Department is dedicated to improving respiratory efficiency and cardiac endurance in patients with heart and lung disorders. Students are trained to deliver evidence-based care in hospitals, ICUs, and community setups, learning both preventive and rehabilitative techniques for optimal cardiopulmonary health.
Highlights:
- Comprehensive learning in airway clearance, postural drainage, and breathing retraining
- Emphasis on pre- and post-operative rehabilitation for cardiac and thoracic surgery patients
- Integration of exercise prescription and pulmonary rehabilitation protocols
Laboratory & Equipment:
- Cardio-Pulmonary Rehabilitation Lab equipped for hands-on training
- Spirometers, Peak Flow Meters, and Pulse Oximeters for respiratory assessment
- Cycle ergometers and treadmill systems for graded exercise testing
- Incentive spirometers, breathing exercisers, and percussion tools
- ECG monitor and pulse rate monitor for exercise tolerance evaluation
- Treadmill and Ergo Cycle for exercise testing
- Static Cycle and BMI Analyzer (Traid Mail)
- TMT (Treadmill Test) Setup for cardiovascular evaluation
The training includes airway clearance techniques, chest physiotherapy, cardiac conditioning, and exercise tolerance testing. Emphasis is placed on promoting cardiovascular fitness, endurance, and safe return to daily activities.
