Department of Neuro Physiotherapy
Rewriting the nervous system through movement and care
The Department of Neuro Physiotherapy focuses on rehabilitation of individuals with neurological disorders such as stroke, spinal cord injury, cerebral palsy, Parkinson’s disease, and traumatic brain injury. The department nurtures empathy, clinical acumen, and advanced practical skills to facilitate functional recovery through neuroplasticity-based interventions.
Highlights:
- Hands-on exposure to neurodevelopmental therapy (NDT) and proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF)
- Training in balance and gait re-education, sensory-motor integration, and cognitive rehabilitation
- Focus on assistive technology and mobility aids for improving independence
- Advanced EMG-NCV studies
- Premature baby’s development therapy
Laboratory & Equipment:
- Neuro Physiotherapy Lab designed to simulate neurological rehabilitation environments
- Parallel bars, tilt table, balance trainer, and gait trainer for ambulation practice
- Motor relearning setups, hand-function boards, and coordination training equipment
- Vibration units, and electrostimulation devices for motor control enhancement
- Biofeedback systems for posture and movement retraining
- Tilt Table for early mobility training
- Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) units
- Photon Class 4 Laser Therapy system (Biosynthesis)
- I-Tecar Therapy Unit for deep tissue healing and neuromuscular activation
Students are trained in neurodevelopmental techniques, motor relearning, balance training, and gait re-education. The department aims to enhance students’ clinical reasoning and practical skills to promote neuroplasticity and improve patients’ quality of life.
